The City of Gonzales will celebrate National Night Out from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, at the Edwards Community Center, 1427 Fly St., Gonzales.
Join the Gonzales Police Department, Gonzales County Sheriff’s Office, Gonzales Fire Department, Gonzales County EMS and Gonzales County Emergency Management and other local first responders and non-profit organizations in an evening of community fellowship and entertainment. Best of all, it is all free.
There will be live music, a bike parade for kids in the fifth grade and under, food, community and safety resources, children’s activities and door prizes. Emergency vehicles will be on site for kids to get a first-hand look inside.
The purpose of National Night Out is to promote strong police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live and work. It is hoped that at least 400-500 people will attend.
Meanwhile, the city of Nixon, along with the Nixon Police Department and Gonzales County Fire South also will hold National Night Out at the Smiley Fire Department from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Oct. 1 as well at the Nixon Community Center. Cosponsors include Nations Christian Fellowship and Gonzales County Sheriff’s Department.
There will be a bike giveaway, activities, food and fun for all, and the event is free.
