James Leonard "Dago" Piland

J.L. “Dago” Piland, age 88, of Smiley died Feb. 6, 2010 in Gonzales. He was born on May 1, 1921 to James Leonard and Jennie Mae (McCaughn) Piland.

Dago was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Maxine (Gilbreth) Piland; eight brothers and sisters; son-in-law, Graham Howell; grandsons, Thomas Graham Howell Jr. and A.J. Repka; great-granddaughter, Brooklynn Attwood.

He is survived by his children, Peggy and Jack Barnett of Wrightsboro, Penny Howell of Austin and Leonard Piland and Nancy of Woodsboro; brother-in-law, Buster and Frances Gilbreth of San Antonio; sister-in-law, Margaret Gilbreth of Austin; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews. Viewing and visitation were held, Feb. 8, 2010 from 5 - 7 p.m. at Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon.

Services were held Feb. 9, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Finch Funeral Chapel

Interment followed at the Bundick Cemetery with Marvin Miles officiating.
