John S. Martinez, Jr.

John S. Martinez, Jr., 69, of Smiley, passed away on Aug. 2, 2015 in Cuero. He was born on Febr. 28, 1946 in Smiley to John M. Martinez, Sr. and Belen (Saenz) Martinez.  He is preceded in death by his father. 

John is survived by his wife since June 26, 1972, Eva (Guerra) Martinez of Smiley; son, Jeff D. Martinez and wife Julie of Yorktown; daughter, Yvonne Esparza and husband Chris of Smiley; grandchildren, Jake Martinez, Michael Esparza, Brandon Martinez, Bradley Esparza, Jahnessa Esparza, Caine Romero, Skylar, Madyson and Careum Pelletier; mother, Belen S. Martinez of Seguin; brother, Rudy S. Martinez of Marion; sister, Beida Aguirre of Smiley; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Aug. 6 from 4 - 8 p.m. at Finch Funeral Chapel of Nixon with a rosary recited at 6:30 pm. The funeral mass will be held Friday, Aug. 7^th at 10 a.m. at St. Philip Catholic Church in Smiley with Father Ouseph Kuriakose officiating. Burial will follow at the Smiley Latin American Cemetery.
