Julia M Almaraz, 94, a woman known for her sweet, kind and loving nature, passed away on April 11th, 2026 leaving a beautiful legacy of family and love. Though gentle in spirit, she possessed a lively and playful personality, often bringing laughter and joy to those around her. Her warmth, humor, and wonderful soul touched the lives of all who knew her. She was a cherished wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Julia was born in Waelder, Texas on January 1st, 1932, to her parents Rafaela (Villanpando) and Crespin Martinez. She was raised in Waelder alongside her large and loving family, growing up with six brothers and five sisters. As she grew into adulthood, she met the love of her life, Ernesto G Almaraz, and the two were united in marriage in 1950, sharing fifty five wonderful years together. During their marriage, they were blessed with three children and built a life centered on love and family, watching it grow to include many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Julia dedicated many years of her life to her work at Walmart, where her strong work ethic and kind nature left a lasting impression. A devoted member of St. James Catholic Church, Julia’s faith remained a strong and guiding presence throughout her life. She found great joy in caring for others, whether through babysitting children, lovingly preparing homemade Mexican dishes, or keeping a warm and welcoming home. She also took pride in herself and her appearance, and loved getting her hair and nails done, always looking put together and presentable, reflecting her grace and dignity.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ernesto G Almaraz; her parents, Rafaela (Villanpando) and Crespin Martinez; and her siblings, Sebastian Martinez, Celestino Martinez, Gilbert Martinez, Bennia Crestan, Carmen Rodriguez, Rosa Garcia, Martina Hernandez, Senovio Martinez, Louis Martinez, and Andy Martinez.

She is survived by her children, Carolyn Villasana (Raul), Daniel Almaraz, and Julia Lynn Almaraz; her sister, Josephine Nava; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will cherish her memory and carry forward her legacy of love.

Julia lived a life rooted in love, strength, and quiet grace, always putting her family at the center of everything she did. Her home was a place of comfort and warmth, and she found joy in the simple things that made her feel her best in all aspects of her life. The memories she created and the love she gave so freely will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. The family would also like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Avir Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their compassionate care and kindness throughout her years of residency.
