Kenneth Jack DeBerry went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 19, 2025. He was born on September 23, 1939, to Gaston Claude DeBerry and Elizabeth Kridler DeBerry. Kenneth was a man of unwavering kindness, hard work, and compassion—a true inspiration to all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Gaston and Elizabeth DeBerry; his brother, Tommy Brian DeBerry; his great-granddaughter, Lainey DeBerry; and his grandson, Joseph Daniel Harris.
Kenneth is survived by his daughter, Susan Gay Rodriguez, and her husband, Joe Rodriguez; his sons, Tommy Brian DeBerry and Jack Frederick DeBerry, and Jack’s wife, Chikako Akikawa; his grandson, Tommy (TJ) DeBerry, and his wife, Griselda DeBerry; and his great-granddaughter, Delilah DeBerry. He is also survived by his sister, Karen Gayle Sheppard, and her husband, Bill Sheppard; his former wife, Teresa DeBerry; as well as his beloved nieces: Stacy Scott and her husband, Steve Scott; Kim Mica and her husband, Randy Mica; Crissy Filla and her husband, Will Filla; Monica Garner and her husband, Keith Garner; and Tina Brondo and her husband, Joe Brondo.
Kenneth was a hard-working person. He loved working on the farm with his dad raising cotton and corn. After leaving school, he joined the National Guard in Schulenburg driving back and forth for his meetings. Later he applied for a job at the Texas Highway Dept in Gonzales. He started out mowing right away then ended up being put on sign work. He worked there for 35, loving every minute of it. When he retired, he kept busy by taking care of the homeplace in Waelder taking care of cattle, and raising horses., he loved the outdoors.
A memorial service to celebrate Kenneth’s life will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Eastside Baptist Church in Gonzales, Texas.
His kindness, wisdom, and love will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
