Lady Apaches softball players earn All-District recognition

The Gonzales Lady Apaches capped off their historic 2024 softball season as area finalists and earned top district recognition.

Freshman pitcher Dixie Rae Lester took home Newcomer of the Year for the 2024 season with 219 strikeouts, 13 wins and a 3.341 ERA (Earned Run Average).

First Team All-District:

Sophomore second baseman Ava Carrizales recorded 22 stolen bases, 20 RBIs and 35 hits for the Lady Apaches.

Senior outfielder Kelly Breitschopf recorded 28 RBIs, three home runs, three triples, six doubles and 16 stone bases.

Second Team All-District:

Senior catcher Sydney McCray recorded 12 caught stealings defensively, while on offense she hd three home runs, four triples, and six doubles.

Senior designated hitter Haley Cantu recorded 14 hits, three doubles, three triples and earned nine wins as pitcher.

Junior outfielder Sarah Padilla recorded 34 hits, 25 RBIs, 33 runs, and nine triples.

Sophomore Gyzelle Guevara recorded 28 hits, 32 runs, 21 stolen bases, and three home runs.

Junior first baseman Peyton Springfield recorded 17 runs, 11 hits, nine stolen bases and one home run.

All-District Honorable Mentions:

Freshman first baseman Alexzis Hernandez recorded 31 RBIs, 29 hits, 15 runs and eight doubles.

Senior outfielder Dakota Schmidt recorded 13 hits, 11 hit by pitch, 17 runs and two triples
