Lady Mustangs open season with Yorktown, Ganado matches

The Nixon-Smiley Lady Mustangs varsity volleyball was on the road Tuesday, Aug. 13 for their season opener against Yorktown and Ganado in a dual match.

The Lady Mustangs opened their first match of the season against the Yorktown Kitty Kats; Nixon-Smiley fell to Yorktown (21-25, 18-25, 19-25) in a close match despite it only lasting three sets.

The Lady Mustangs quickly turned things around in the second match against the Ganado Lady Indians with a close three-set sweep (25-20, 29-27, 25-22) to earn their first win of the season.

Nixon-Smiley will hit the road Thursday, Aug. 15 for tournament season in Cuero.

The Lady Mustangs host the home opener Tuesday, Aug. 20 against the Falls City Lady Beavers.
