Lorraine Jacqueline Walshak peacefully passed from this life to be with The Lord Jesus on March 11, 2026, at the age of 99. She had a kind and gentle spirit and was loved by so many.

Lorraine was born on December 15, 1926, to Leo Roy and Katherine Brychta Redmon in Fort Riley, Kansas. Her father was in the Army, so they moved a lot when she was a young girl. Her father also played in the Salvation Army Band so she would tell stories of how much the Salvation Army helped her family during the Depression era. This developed a passion that she carried through life for the mission of the Salvation Army and helping people. Growing up with her dad as a musician, she loved music and dancing. Lorraine could be found clapping and tapping her toes when musicians would come play all the tunes she remembered growing up with. The Army took her family to San Angelo, TX where she graduated from high school. Lorraine attended Incarnate Word College and graduated as a Registered Nurse from Santa Rosa School of Nursing in May of 1948 in San Antonio, TX.

After graduation she became a nurse at Warm Springs Rehabilitation Hospital during the polio epidemic. She cared for many polio patients and developed lifelong friendships from her time at Warm Springs. One of her lifetime nursing friends became her sister-in-law. Murlene (Walshak) Enke introduced Lorraine to her brother, the love of her life Lawrence Maurin Walshak. They were married in St James Catholic Church in Gonzales on October 17, 1950. They were married for nearly 62 years when Lawrence passed away in 2011. They spent their life together in Gonzales, Tx passionately loving and serving the community. Lawrence was co-owner of KCTI radio station and Lorraine was a member of the Spade & Trowel Garden Club and the Catholic Daughters of America.

Lorraine had an adventurous spirit deep down. She traveled to Europe after WWII by herself to visit her parents in Germany and took the opportunity to travel in Europe.

Lorraine moved to Tyler, Tx in 2019 to be close to her daughter, Julie and her family. She was so proud of her title of Nonnie to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a favorite resident of the Brookdale Tyler East Community where she lived. Lorraine always had a smile, loved God and genuinely loved people.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Maurin Walshak and their son Richard Lawrence Walshak.

Lorraine is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Julie and Chris Langford of Tyler, TX, grandsons John Langford and wife Lysandra (Dallas), Andrew Langford and wife Kesli (Tyler), Alex Langford and wife Brooke (Colorado), and granddaughter Rebecca Miller and husband Kyle (Japan). She is also survived by 5 great grandchildren Kennedy, Hallie, Everett, Caleb and Parker, special sisters-in-law Murlene (Walshak) Enke and Patricia (Walshak) Bianchi, brother Marion Redmon and wife Deidre and many loving nieces and nephews.
