Marion hands Lady Mustangs their first district loss

The Nixon-Smiley Lady Mustangs traveled to Marion for a district match against the Lady Bulldogs Friday, March 22.
The Lady Mustangs and the Lady Bulldogs had a competitive first two innings with Nixon-Smiley taking a 7-6 lead entering the third.
In the fourth and fifth innings, the Lady Mustangs’ bats went quiet and Marion scored the next six runs.
The Lady Mustangs fell to Marion, 18-8, in six innings.
Nixon-Smiley hosted Cole for its third district contest Tuesday, March 26, and will host Luling Thursday, March 28 for the fourth district match.
First pitch for the Luling game is set for 6 p.m.
