Sandra Jane "Janie" Carleton was born in New Braunfels, Tx on June 28, 1943, to Clarence Henry and Iola Eugenia (Moltz) Vordenbaum. She passed on June 9, 2026, just 19 days from her 83rd birthday.
Janie lost her mother to cancer when she was seven, and this made an indelible mark on her heart. She missed her terribly her whole life.
Her family eventually moved to Gonzales, where she met her future husband William Carleton, and graduated Gonzales High School in 1961. Following their wedding in 1962, they moved to Dickinson, Tx, and later League City, Texas in 1970. Sons William Bryce and Timothy Wray were born during this time. But the call to return home was strong, so in 1976, the family returned to Gonzales.
Janie served many years on her class reunion committee as a volunteer, where she assisted in organizing and contacting members for reunion events.
Janie spent many years working in the oil and banking fields, including Transocean Oil, Evergreen Oil, Gonzales County Savings and Loan, Dickinson State Bank, League City State Bank, and Sage Capital Bank.
Janie had a strong love for her many dogs over the years, and also had a passion for plants, including orchids, roses, and loved her vegetable garden. She was a two-time cancer survivor, and fought every battle against this terrible disease with courage, conviction, and determination. She and William loved visiting estate sales
Janie is predeceased by her parents Clarence and Iola, and stepmother Stella Vordenbaum, husband William Carleton, and sisters Dorothy Wilke McGinty and Susie Dolezal.
Survivors are sisters Nancy (Soren) Tielman of San Antonio and Dyna Dubose of Gonzales, and children William Bryce (Kimberly) Carleton of Lake Jackson and Timothy Wray (Janice) Carleton of San Antonio, and grandchildren Brittany Michelle Carleton of Denver, Colorado and Brandt Carleton of Angleton, Tx.
