Surrounded by her family, love, and peace Yolanda “Yoly” de la Barreda entered her eternal rest on June 19, 2025, trusting in the mercy and promise of Christ.
Yolanda was born on May 4, 1961, to her beloved parents, Arnulfo and Maria de Jesús Aguiñaga. Yolanda was born and grew up in San Luis Potosí, and in 1985 married her husband, Alfonso.
Yolanda, Alfonso and their son Raziel came to the United States and made their home in Gonzales, Texas. Together, Yolanda and Alfonso built a life rooted in faith and family, raising their three children: Raziel, Uriel, and Daniel.
Known for her generosity, caring heart, and strength, Yolanda lived her faith through service— bringing meals to the sick, offering comfort to those in need, and caring deeply for her loved ones. Her home was always open, her hands always helping, and her presence brought warmth and grace to everyone she met. Whether through a kind word, a home-cooked meal, or a simple act of care, she made others feel seen, supported, and loved.
She found joy in tending her garden, cooking for those she loved, and taking pride in her home. Yolanda’s faith was central to her life. A devoted member of Sacred Heart Church in Gonzales, she generously volunteered her time for church events, served in the choir, and was active in the Guadalupanas—roles that brought her great happiness. She was recently honored with the Lumen Gentium Award for her many years of dedicated service to the parish—a recognition that touched her deeply. She was employed by Gonzales Community Health Center/WIC for over 15 years, where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic. During her tenure there she formed lifelong friendships with coworkers and the community that the agency served, a testament to the kindness and connection she brought in life and in her work.
More than anything, Yolanda cherished her family. Reunions and vacations filled her heart with joy; her laughter and adventurous spirit lit up every gathering. Her life reflected God’s love, and her legacy of kindness, faith, and unwavering devotion will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know her.
Yolanda is survived by her husband of 40 years, Alfonso; her three sons; Raziel and his wife Patricia, Uriel and Daniel; her grandson, Adriel; her siblings, Graciela, Omar, Silvia, Arturo, Rogelio, Sergio, Irma, and Roci; and many nieces, nephews, godchildren, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss her deeply. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnulfo and Maria de Jesús, and her brother Rodolfo.
“Mi querida hija, yo te amo y nunca te dejaré. Durante tus momentos de prueba y sufrimiento, cuando viste un laurel de mieles, yo estaré contigo siempre.”
May Yolanda’s beautiful soul rest in eternal peace.
