The Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority (GBRA) has hired Chad Norris as Deputy Executive Director of Environmental Science and Community Affairs. Norris will be responsible for advancing the overall science programs at GBRA, including research prioritization and implementation, providing scientific and technical support to regional stakeholders, and overseeing the Clean Rivers Program. Additionally, he will contribute technical and scientific expertise to the development of GBRA’s Habitat Conservation Plan. more

The number of new unemployment claims in Gonzales County fell significantly in December 2020. Weekly claims, according to Texas Workforce Commission data, fell to pre-pandemic numbers in December. Available data through Dec. 26 shows a general downward trend since peak claim numbers were reached in April and May, when new weekly claims hit the upper 80s.  more
