Carolyn Agusta Reid Park

Carolyn Agusta Reid Park passed away on March 26, 2023, in Carrollton, Texas. Carolyn was born on June 2, 1937 in Gonzales, Texas. She was the second child of Addison Lumpkin Reid and Margaret Swann Wilson Reid.

Carolyn attended Gonzales schools and graduated from Gonzales High School in 1954. She then attended Baylor University and earned a Bachelor's degree in Choral Music Education in 1958. It was at Baylor that Carolyn met her future husband, Lane Park as fellow trumpet players in the Baylor Band. Carolyn and Lane were later married on August 25, 1959, in Gonzales, Texas.

Carolyn worked as a teacher wherever her husband was called to serve in churches. She taught elementary school music, Junior High and High School choir in Del Rio, Texas. She taught High School choir and World History in Haltom City, Texas. She taught High School choir in El Paso, Texas. She taught middle school choir in Paris, Texas. Carolyn retired from teaching in 1990. Lane and Carolyn then moved to Frisco, Texas to be closer to their grandchildren. 

Carolyn enjoyed playing the trumpet and the piano. She also spent untold hours crocheting crosses that she gave out to anyone she could as a testimony of her faith.

Later, her husband Lane was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. While he was living in the memory care facility, she occasionally provided church services to the residents by playing hymns on the piano and reading God's Word. Carolyn eventually moved to an assisted living facility, Sonoma House, in Carrollton, Texas. She made many friends at the facility and often played the keyboard for the other residents to enjoy the music.

Carolyn is survived by two sons, Daniel Karl Park (wife Laura) and William Reid Park (wife Carrie). She is also survived by her sister, Margaret Swann Reid and sister-in-law, Carolyn Smith Reid, as well as 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Lane Park and her brother, Robert Addison Reid.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm. on Friday, April 28, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Plano, located at 3665 W. President George Bush Hwy, Plano, TX 75075. The service will be livestreamed through fbcplano.org.

A private family burial will be held at the Oddfellows cemetery in Gonzales, TX.
