Charlotte Louise (Benes) Tieken

Charlotte Louise (Benes) Tieken went to join the Lord on Wednesday, March 1, 2023. She was born April 21, 1936, in Gonzales to her parents, Louis and Gussie Benes. She grew up and attended school in Gonzales and graduated from Gonzales High School in May of 1954. She started working at Citizens National Bank after graduation, later known as Wells Fargo Bank, and made a career as a bank teller, as well as many other positions within the bank, that would span over 60 years. She received a proclamation from Mayor Robert Logan on August 11, 2014, which was formally announced as “Charlotte Tieken Day” in Gonzales, Texas. Her lifelong career was wonderfully acknowledged, and she was honored with this recognition of her work in the financial services industry.

Charlotte married Gerald Tieken on August 18, 1958. They were blessed to share 62 years together. Charlotte loved her family very much and made many wonderful memories with them. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were a precious gift to her, and she cherished them more than anything. She was well known for her baked goods, especially her sugar cookies. She would often make them for family, friends, and neighbors. Charlotte was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Gonzales. Charlotte leaves behind a legacy of not only serving her community, but also loving and caring deeply for her family and friends. She impacted many and will be missed greatly by those who knew her.

Charlotte is survived by her son Gerald Duane Tieken, her granddaughter, Megan Benson and her husband, Jason from Dripping Springs, her step grandchildren, Karen Krnavek (Charlie) from La Grange, Michael Machala (Kara) from Westpoint, her great grandchild, Jackson Benson, and her step great grandchildren, Joshua Krnavek and Chase Krnavek, sister Margaret Koenning of Victoria, brother Billy Benes of Gonzales, sister in laws, Jeannie Koenning of St. Hedwig, Lisetta Tharp (Larry) of Gonzales, Patsy Tieken of McKinney, brother in laws, Harold Tieken (Betty), Donald Tieken (Annie) of Gonzales, Dale Tieken (Martha) of Floresville and Charles Bolton of Luling. She was also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Gussie Benes, husband Gerald and daughter in law Barbara Tieken.

A visitation will take place on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at Seydler – Hill Funeral Home from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at Seydler – Hill Funeral Home at 10:00am, and interment will follow at Gonzales Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers include Gerald Duane Tieken, Jason Benson, Bruce Tieken, Gene Tieken, Duane Tieken and Dale Schelenberg. Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church or charity of one's choice.

 All services are under the care and direction of Seydler – Hill Funeral Home.
