Eli Sampleton

Eli Sampleton was the seventh child born to the late Elijah and Mildred Kline Sampleton on April 23, 1955, in the Peach Creek Community, Gonzales, Texas. He confessed his life to Christ at an early age.

On March 6, 1976, he was united in marriage to the late Elsie Jean Sampleton.

He attended and was ordained a deacon at St. James Baptist Church for many years.

He attended Edwards High School until they integrated and graduated.

He was employed at Tyson Foods for many years until his health began to fail him.

Eli loved playing softball.  He enjoyed his music, dancing, playing dominoes, and laughing and talking with his grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his wife Elsie Sampleton, and Brothers; Mack Henery Sampleton, Edward Ray Sampleton, Hayward Sampleton, and Robert Sampleton. Sisters; Helen Sampleton Mackey and Betty Jean Sampleton.

He leaves to cherish his memory, Son; Eli Sampleton Jr. (Mary Sampleton), Daughter; Alicia Mayberry (Randy Mayberry).  Grandchildren; Keyana Sampleton, Yaslyn Mayberry, Jayran Sampleton, Nyesha Mayberry, and Domani Mayberry.  Brothers; Willie Sampleton (Betty) Lafayette Sampleton (Rose), and Cleveland Sampleton. Sisters: Rose Sampleton and Sue Sampleton. And a host of nieces and nephews.  They all had a special place in his heart.
