Elizabeth “Betty” Otelia Reese Pettus

Elizabeth “Betty” Otelia Reese Pettus died Monday, November 20, 2023, in Gonzales.  She was born on December 12, 1938, to Henry Carlos Reese III and Claytie Woods Pace Reese in Gonzales, Texas.  Elizabeth was a graduate of the Gonzales High School Class of 1956 and the University of Texas with a teaching certificate.  After graduation, she taught school for several years.  On August 14, 1964, she married William Thomas Pettus, Jr.  She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Gonzales, Texas.  She was preceded in death by her father, her mother, her husband, her brother Henry Reese IV, and her sister Claytie Reese.  She is survived by her sister Susan Brent Najvar, brother-in-law, Michael Najvar, niece Samantha Kehl, niece Kasey Reese Floyd, nephew, Noel Henry Reese and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will take place on Friday, November 24, 2023, at Seydler – Hill Funeral Home from 10:00am to 11:00am, a funeral service will begin at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Gonzales Masonic Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Noel Reese, Clayton Reese, Carson Reese, Hank Floyd, Michael Najvar, and Steven Kehl.

Memorials may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation. All services are under the care and direction of Seydler – Hill Funeral Home.
