Gloria B. Contreras, 58, of Gonzales, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at her home surrounded by loved ones. She was born on February 17, 1966, in Shiner, Texas to Lionisio and Amelia Banda Sr.

Gloria worked as a caregiver for many years, she had a calling on caring for others. She loved chatting with friends and family, and she often shared her love with food. If you got the chance to try her famous fried chicken, you felt Gloria's embrace. Gloria also liked to check in on family from time to time, that was just the caring person she was.
She appreciated the small things in life, like sitting on the porch, enjoying the breeze and feeding the birds. Gloria enjoyed a good game of Loteria (Mexican bingo) and winning everyone’s money. She loved listening to worship music and sharing her favorite Bible scriptures. Among all of the things she favored in life, she loved spending time with her only daughter Julissa. Her life was an example of the bible verse Ephesians 4:32 “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another just as God also forgive you in Christ.”

Gloria is survived by her loving daughter Julissa Contreras, her brothers Michael Banda of Gonzales, Texas, Richard and Sylvia Banda of Gonzales, Texas, Lionisio and Michelle Banda, Jr. of Gonzales, Texas, Oscar and Terry Banda of Seguin, Texas, Sylvia and Erasmo Leal of Gonzales, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents Lionisio and Amelia Banda, Sr., her sister Gloria Banda, and her nephew Michael Banda, Jr.

A memorial service will be held at Faith Family Church on Thursday, May 16th, 2024, at 10:00 am.
