Helen Amelia Schnitz

Helen Amelia Schnitz of Nixon, Texas was called to her eternal home on March 7, 2023 at the age of 85 years. Helen was born on January 24, 1938 in Gonzales, Texas to Leslie Mills and Gladys (Sessions) Mills. Helen married her sweetheart, Wendell Herman Schnitz, Sr. on January 28, 1953 in Gonzales. 

Helen is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Leslie Mills, Jr., and Jackie Holmes Mills; sisters, Gladys Adelle Lawrence, Ruby Hare, and Dottie Ivey; and step-grandson, Johnathon Robert Henk.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Wendell H. Schnitz, Sr.; sons, Charles Allen Schnitz Sr. (Jennifer), and Wendell Herman Schnitz, Jr. (Laura);  grandchildren, Charles Schnitz Jr. (Delane), Jacob Kyle Sanders (Amanda), Richard “Rickey” Allen Schnitz (fiancée, Megan), Travis Anthony Schnitz (Valorie), and Derek Austin Schnitz; step-granddaughters, Sara Elizabeth Nino, Bridget Vandervort, and Mary Aguillon; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Audrey West, Darleen Tabor, Joyce Duell, and Marlin Haygood.

A visitation will be held on Friday, March 10, 2023, 5:00pm-8:00pm at Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon, Texas. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023, 10:00am, at Finch Funeral Chapel. A burial will follow at Nixon Cemetery. The Reverend Michael Cowey will be officiant of the services.
