Hershel "Gene" Myers

Hershel "Gene" Myers, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on July 14th, 2024 in Junction, Texas. He was born on December 14th, 1945 in Austin, Texas to loving parents who instilled in him the values of faith and compassion. Gene leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will forever be cherished by those who knew him. 

Gene was a man with the bluest eyes that sparkled with warmth and joy. His infectious smile and fun sense of humor could light up any room. He had a knack for making up words for things just to elicit eye rolls from his children – a testament to his playful spirit. He was a devoted lover of Bluebell Ice Cream and all things Texan. 

His devotion to family was unwavering. Gene is survived by his loving wife of almost 59 years, Patricia Hector; daughter Stephanie Myers; son Steven Myers; daughter-in-law Lisa; grandchildren Alissa, Savannah (Robert), Ethan (Ariana), Andrew (Ashley), Sarah, and Mitchell; as well as great-grandchildren Auggie, Opal, and Enrique with another on the way. 

Gene's life was defined by his deep faith in God which he shared passionately with others at every opportunity. As a high school social studies teacher and lay pastor he touched countless lives through mentorship and friendship. He lived out his calling as a fraud specialist with integrity while supporting those around him wholeheartedly. He loved unconditionally - always extending support to anyone in need without hesitation or reservation. His heart was boundless – overflowing with empathy for all whom he encountered. 

In honor of Gene's memory there will be no services at this time but donations can be made to your favorite schools or organizations that support children’s education—a cause close to Gene’s heart. 

The loss of Hershel “Gene” Myers has left an irreplaceable void in the hearts of many but it is certain that his spirit will continue to live on through the memories shared by those whose lives were enriched by knowing him.
