Lance Alton Fougerat

Lance Alton Fougerat, 40, went to his heavenly home on Friday, February 2, 2024.  He was born February 7, 1983 in Yoakum, Texas, to Gerald Fougerat, Jr., and Debra Anthony Fougerat.

Lance was raised in Gonzales, TX alongside his three older siblings.  He was an energetic child that brought joy and happiness everywhere he went.  To know Lance, was to love him in every sense of the word.  He was kind and generous with a sense of humor that could bring laughter to any situation and a smile that would light up the room.  His childhood was spent playing sports, hunting, fishing, and doing all things outdoors.  He was a remarkable shot with a bow and arrow and could learn a landscape almost instantly; guiding many “lost” adults back to camp while hosting various hunts with his dad in South Texas. His fun loving, adventurous nature drew everyone to him and led to many escapades.  There was never a dull moment with Lance around and he never met a stranger.

Lance graduated from Gonzales High School in 2001.  After high school the adventures continued as this jack of all trades traveled and worked a number of different jobs.  Though he was good at anything he put his mind to, horticulture was his passion.  He came back home to work side by side with his parents at the family business, Gonzales Wholesale Nursery.  Upon their retirement, his love of the mountains led him to Colorado where he continued to thrive sharing his knowledge and abilities in the horticultural field; he had a green thumb like no other. Though he missed his beloved family and friends in Texas, Colorado became his home allowing him to spend his final days doing what he loved most:  exploring mountains, observing wildlife, and simply enjoying nature and all its beauty.

Lance is survived by his adoring family, parents Gerald, Jr. and Debra Fougerat, sisters Angela Fougerat and Brooke Stamport (Shawn), brother Matthew Fougerat (Patty), nephews Kameron Glass (Kalli), Dylan and Logan Cantrell, Ace Tiller and Julian Fougerat, nieces Taylor Glass, Alyssa Cantrell, Townes Fougerat and Emma Metzler, and great nephew Kace Glass, his aunt, Denise Windwehen (Jimmy) and uncle, Kenneth Fougerat (Karen).   He is preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Gerald, Sr. and Annie Fougerat, and maternal grandparents Alton and Oretha Anthony (and Norman Pennock) and uncle, Michael Fougerat.

The family will receive friends from 2 pm to 3 pm Monday, February 19, 2024 in Seydler-Hill Funeral Home.
