Margaret Ann Frye, 79, of Harwood, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2023. She was born June 6, 1943 in Aransas Pass to George and Annie White Walker. She married Lawrence Frye on July 6, 1973 in San Antonio. She had been a member of the Gonzales First United Methodist Church.

Margaret (Marge to her friends and family) loved life, people, and the outdoors. As a First-Grade teacher in the Judson Independent School District, she touched many lives. While living in Converse, TX, she was active in her community, serving on the Parks Commission and tutoring underprivileged children at Boysville.

After retiring she moved to Harwood with her husband to take over the family farm. Her days were filled with watching her cows and keeping her wild birds fed.  She rarely missed watching Wheel of Fortune and was always game for another Hallmark movie. Margaret enjoyed camping on the beach and spent many happy days there with her grandchildren hunting for seashells. Marge never met a shell she didn’t like.

As her health began failing, she never lost her lust for life or her concern for the well-being of others. Marge will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Marge is survived by her beloved family, husband of nearly 50 years, Lawrence Frye of Harwood, daughter, Denise Lea Frye (Patrick Gabrysch) of Floresville, sisters, Marilyn Welch (Mikel) of Live Oak, Carolyn Freeman of Windcrest, grandchildren, Michael Kiolbassa, Krystal Kiolbassa, Jessica Worthey (Justin), and Justin Gabrysch, great-grandchildren, Sadie Worthey, Khloe Worthey, and Ezra Dunham. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Donald Frye.

A memorial service will be held at 11 am Thursday, February 2, 2023 in the Floresville United Methodist Church, 1205 B Street, Floresville, Texas with Pastor Valli Blair officiating.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America. Friends may leave their condolences to the family by visiting www.seydlerhillfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home.
