Peggy Mackey Crook

Posted

On Friday, May 24, 2024, Peggy Mackey Crook, at 85 years old, drew her final earthly breath and entered the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Peggy was born in Gonzales, Texas and had lived in Rockwall, Texas for many years. She was a faithful member of Church in the City in Rowlett for 35 years. Peggy is survived by her sister, Jeanie Hindman, two of her three children, Cathy Crook (Gary) Neidert, and Don (Linda) Crook, Jr., her grandchildren, Andreas Alexander Rhiese, Loyd Wakefield, Jr., Brooke Wakefield (Luke) Hageny, Krisleigh Lewis (Mark) Hoermann, and Allison Crook (Sam) Pramik, her great-grandchildren, Katie (James) Seikel, Madison and Kyan Wakefield, Carter and Sydney Hageny, Kayden, Makayla and Ava Hoermann, Laney Jo Lewis and Penny Pramik, and her great-great-grandchildren, Mason and Owen Seikel. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews and a plethora of extended family, in-laws and friends.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Spencer and Vera Pearl Mackey of Gonzales, Texas, her brothers, Gerald, Byron, Clifton and Carl. She was also preceded in death by the father of their children, Don Crook, Sr. in 2015, and in 2017, their daughter, Jeanne Crook Blanton.

Peggy was a faithful friend, and a stabilizing influence to many.  She loved and protected her family with the fierceness of a mama bear.  She made sure her children were raised with discipline, respect for others and learned to make the right choices in difficult situations regardless of the cost. She also made sure they attended church regularly so they could be taught the Word of God. She was the ultimate Proverbs 31 woman. She was blessed and a blessing to others.  Peggy was a bookkeeper for many years, and eventually worked for her daughter, Jeanne's, commercial real estate insurance firm as a claims specialist. In her later years, she thoroughly enjoyed her great-grandchildren and spent as much time with them as possible. The “littles” in the family were the joy of their Memo's life!
