Jeffry S. Kuenzler, 50 of Mediapolis died at 3:24 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, 2020 at Great River Medical Center. Born May 23, 1970 in Burlington, he was the son of Richard and Linda S. (Springsteen) Kuenzler. The visitation for Mr. Kuenzler will be 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct.15 at Lunning Chapel. Following visitation cremation will be accorded. Joaquin was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12, 2020 in Seydler-Hill Funeral Home followed by a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7 p.m. in the chapel. She was employed by Kitchen Pride and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14 with the Rosary beginning at 7 p.m. at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home. Refugio Romo, 87, of Gonzales, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2020. He was born Oct. 5, 1932 in Sabinas, Mexico, the son of Jose and Marcellina Guerra Romo. Refugio was a retired ranch hand and worked with cattle and broke horses for many years. Visitation will be held Friday, Oct. 9, 2020 from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, 2020 at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home with Reverend Jesse Elizondo officiating. Victor Ramirez was born Nov. 30, 1956 to Francisco Ramirez and Juanita DeLeon Ramirez in Gonzales, Texas. Victor graduated from Gonzales High School. He worked as a truck driver for Fehner and Sons Grain for many years. more
Elisa “Elsie” Contreras San Miguel, 80, of Gonzales, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sept. 30, 2020. She was born in Luling, Texas on Sept. 23, 1940, to Maximo and Prudencia Contreras. On June 2, 1959 she married the love of her life, Martin Molina San Miguel, and together they raised their family in Gonzales. A Rosary was held Sunday, Oct. 4 at St. James Catholic Church. Cora Mae Wallace was born June 24, 1954 in Gonzales, Texas to Blanche Wallace and Buster Hardaway. Cora graduated from Gonzales High School May of 1973. She worked for the City of Gonzales as a Maintenance Supervisor for 30 years before retiring. Cora Mae went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2020 at the age of 66. Wilbert Roy “Papaw” Benes, Sr., of Gonzales, passed away Saturday, Oct. 3, 2020 at the age of 91. Wilbert was born on Feb. 24, 1929 to Hattie Zavadil and Joseph Benes in Gonzales. He married Mary Cantu on Dec. 15, 1956 in Weslaco. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2020 from 5 until 7 p.m. in Seydler-Hill Funeral Home. David George Cole, 94, of Harwood, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2020. David was born on Feb. 22, 1926 in Frankston, Texas to Susie Mae Tarrant and Henry Bascom Cole. David married Dorothy Nell Edwards Gilkey on Dec. 22, 2015 in Harwood, Texas. Service for David Cole will be held at a later date. John Kyle Hollaway died on the morning of Sept. 19, 2020 in New Braunfels, Texas. He was born at Fort Hood, Texas on Feb. 15, 1956, the only son of Herman Kyle Hollaway, Jr. and Frances Kuehn Hollaway. His family moved to his mother’s hometown of Gonzales in the late 1960s, where John made many new friends and continued his education. John Kyle Hollaway was buried at Fort Sam National Cemetery on Sept. 25, 2020. A memorial service is planned early in 2021. more
Elmo Alex Sample, age 94, of Smiley, Texas passed away on Sept. 28, 2020. Elmo was born in Sample, Texas on May 3, 1926, as the third of three sons born to Alex H. and Annie May Sample. There will be a private family graveside service on Saturday, October 3, 2020. A "Celebration of Life" will be held Saturday, Oct. 3 at 12 p.m. at the Sample Family Home. more
Raymond Courtland “Spike” Pinney died in his sleep from natural causes on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2020 in his own home. Spike and his wife, Marcia, were married for 52 years. His beloved life partner, Marcia, died on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2020. Both Spike and Marcia will be buried at Luling City Cemetery at a later date with a private family ceremony. David Wayne Kotzebue, 53, of Shiner, passed away Thursday, Sept. 24, 2020. He was born Jan. 27, 1967 in Gonzales, the son of Alexander and Elizabeth Zissa Kotzebue. He married Lynette Anne Hairell Oct. 22, 1994 in Shiner. He worked as a machinist for Boedeker Plastics Inc. for 22 years. Visitation will be held Thursday, Oct. 1, 2020 from 5 until 7 p.m. at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home with the Rosary being recited at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 2, 2020 at Sts. She married Raymond Philip Roeber on Oct. 22, 1942 in the First Lutheran Church Parsonage. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 25, 2020 in Seydler-Hill Funeral Home.
